I do not know where you are looking, but here is your last message on SimHQ.

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/t ... ost4444749

You may not see it if your "Category Display Options" at the bottom of the page is set for only the last month or so.

Okay I think I got it figured out. I'll stay logged in, because when I don't and I log in from scratch, it brings me to the main SimHQ Forum where there's not an option to get to the Harpoon PlayersDB thread. My category display option was set for three months, so I set it for year as well. Thanks

Hey Herman,
So I'm at that quandary of wondering whether all the effort I must continue to put into the Indochine Campaign to finish it is worth it - whether there are Harpooners still out there and whether they have been downloading the game. I know I've brought this up to you before, and you've told me that there is still an active public out there, but it just seems that everyone has left Harpoon. I have two scenarios left in the pipeline that are built and tested. I haven't released them yet, because you've said before that it's wise to spread them out and not put it all out there at once. After these two scenarios it's back to the build phase again, which is the part I adore and love so much. But I am barely a third of the way through the entire planned Indochine Campaign (war), and I have years left to see this whole thing through, which on the one hand is nice to think about and gives me a lot of comfort knowing that I have much with which to keep me busy. However, if there's no interest left, I don't see much of a point in continuing.
I really need to know if Harpoon is still relevant and if there is still an active player base out there. Please advise.
Cheers,
Alan

The PlayersDB libraries were downloaded over 1000 times in March 2019 alone. It was probably not just a coincidence that a CasoDB scenario was published in March. The Libraries were downloaded over 1100 times in Nov 2018, one month after the previous CasoDB release.
If you care to track them yourself, you can follow the progress at:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13

Some players leave and others come back (after 10 years).

There is virtually no direct public acknowledgement. The best for which anyone can hope is indirect data.
Viewership of Harpoon AAR videos remains steady. More evidence is not available.
Only you can decide if such indirect indicators are sufficient for your continued interest.

Wow, okay. These are encouraging statistics. I'll carry on I think. I'll space out the next two scenarios over the next two months while starting work on the upcoming group of scenarios where we'll set up in a new battle set.
Thanks Herman. Good news indeed.

Hi Herman,
I hope this finds you well. I just had my problematic PC lubed and oiled, and the overhaul yielded up an astonishing 400+ Gb of space. My old PC warhorse in ready for battle again, and I'm ready to reload Harpoon up into it. I have my CD Harpoon disc with me and I'll load it up, but getting it up to date with the game always is tricky. Do you have the formula for loading up all the extensions so I can achieve v.394 again? Then I can update with the library etc.

Hey Herman,
I guess what I'm asking is what upgrades do I download, and where do I get them to get my Harpoon game updated. I've loaded up the raw Harpoon ANW Game from my CD Disk, but I know I need to download the upgrades. Its been a while since I've had to load the game, so where do I go for all that stuff again? I have to do that before I go to the Library, right?

It is not clear what version your CD is, but here are the patches I recommend:

ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/Harpoon3A ... 80-Inc.zip
ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/Harpoon3A ... 3900DR.zip
ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/Harpoon3A ... 2bComp.zip
ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/Harpoon3A ... e-v394.zip

Patches past v3.9.4 are not recommended because they render the MP capability non-functional.

The public fora may seem quiet, but I just got two PM asking about scenarios.

Always ready to go on this end. Just post your scenario whenever you feel the inclination.
They always go up within a day or so.

Here you go, "Hunters of the Deep". Still goes into the 4th Battleset - "The Fifty Yard Line." There'll be one more - Sc 27 - that will go into this Battle Set, then we will create a fifth Battle Set for new scenarios after that, called "The Flickering Flame."
